Employers – are you aware the payday filing starts from 1 April 2019?
This means that for all employers instead of filing an Employer monthly schedule (IR348) every month, you will file an Employment information schedule online every payday. As part of these changes employers are all also required to provide new and departing employees address information, as well as their date of birth (if they have provided it to you). And for all employees with PAYE/ESCT of $50,000 or more than this must be done electronically.
You can start doing this now, rather than waiting until 1 April 2019 you can opt in now to do this, check out the IRD website for more information on how to opt in for this now: https://www.ird.govt.nz/payroll-employers/returns-payments/payday-filing/
Please note this does not impact payment, this remains the 20th of the month (or 5th and 20th for twice monthly fliers).
Please contact us to discuss how preparing payroll can be made easier, even if you are a small employee an automated system can provide quick reporting and simplify your weekly/fortnightly/monthly process.
